Job Description

The Health Care Aide will report to the Clinical Services Manager. Under the direction/supervision of the clinical team, the successful candidate will perform direct patient care in addition to accommodation and support services.

Accountabilities:

  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living, repositioning, mobilization and transport
  • Ordering supplies
  • Daily restocking of supplies in patient care rooms and supply storage areas
  • Maintain and distribute departmental monitoring equipment
  • Transporting patient specimens to the pneumatic tube
  • Contributing to the maintenance of a safe work environment


  • Registered with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA)
  • Personal Support Worker certificate required from an accredited institution
  • Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques
  • Current CPR
  • Recent related experience working with geriatric and rehabilitation type populations required
  • Experience collaborating with an inter-professional team
  • Ability to adjust patient care practices based on inter-professional recommendations
  • Recent experience working in a highly technical patient care environment
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and comprehension skills
  • Flexibility to meet unit needs
  • Ability to work well with team members
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Meditech system
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record
  • Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration
  • Ability to travel between and work at all Osler sites as required
  • Able to handle the physical requirements of the job (ability to lift at least 25-30 lbs)


Currently Days/Evenings, 8/12 hours, including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

SALARY:

Minimum: $31.45 per hour

Maximum: $32.09 per hour
