What You’ll Do
As a veterinary assistant, you’ll play an important role in keeping our patients comfortable and helping the veterinary team provide excellent care. Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with pet restraint and patient handling
- Triaging incoming veterinary patients and obtaining medical histories
- Collecting and processing laboratory samples
- Assisting with diagnostic imaging and radiographs
- Providing nursing care for hospitalized and medical cases
- Administering medications as directed by the veterinary team
- Preparing patients for surgery and assisting during procedures
- Supporting anesthesia monitoring
- Communicating treatment plans and instructions with clients
- Keeping treatment areas clean, organized, and ready for patients
What We’re Looking For
For our experienced veterinary assistant opening, at least one year of veterinary experience is required. For our entry-level opening, no previous veterinary experience is required—we are open to training the right person.
For either veterinary assistant position, we’re looking for someone who is:
- Compassionate, calm, dependable, and team-oriented
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced veterinary environment
- A strong communicator and willing to learn
- Able to properly restrain and safely handle pets
- Comfortable multitasking and staying organized
- Eager to continue developing veterinary knowledge and skills
Experience with sample collection, laboratory testing, radiographs, medical histories, and anesthesia monitoring is a is required for experienced role, but not required for the entry-level position.
This role may involve exposure to unpleasant odors and noises, animal waste, bites, scratches, and potentially contagious diseases.
