Job Description

Turner & Townsend is seeking an ambitious and proactive Assistant Project Manager to support a Senior Consultant managing multiple projects for a confidential global technology client with an international real estate portfolio. The portfolio includes commercial office fit-outs, industrial projects, and related site development activities throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.

This role is ideal for an early-career construction professional who wants significant exposure to project management and is ready to take on increasing responsibility. The successful candidate will work directly with a Senior Consultant across multiple projects and will be expected to quickly develop the ability to manage project administration tasks independently, anticipate project needs, and proactively support project delivery with limited supervision.

While mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities will be provided, the successful candidate must be able to learn quickly, take direction effectively, and apply lessons learned to new situations. This is a role for someone who naturally thinks ahead, takes ownership of their work, and actively looks for ways to contribute beyond assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of multiple concurrent construction projects.
  • Support procurement activities, including bid tracking, vendor coordination, and contract administration.
  • Track submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), action items, and project deliverables.
  • Maintain project documentation, meeting minutes, reports, and document control systems.
  • Monitor project schedules and proactively prepare for upcoming milestones and project activities.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, vendors, landlords, and client stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate project progress, risks, and pending decisions.
  • Conduct site visits and assist with monitoring construction progress and project quality.
  • Support closeout activities, including punch lists, turnover documentation, and project records.
  • Anticipate project needs and take initiative in preparing materials, information, and resources required for upcoming activities.
  • Identify potential issues, administrative gaps, or schedule impacts and elevate concerns appropriately.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is not simply looking for a job in construction; they are looking to build a career in project management.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • A proactive, self-directed approach to work.
  • The ability to learn quickly and apply guidance with minimal repetition.
  • Strong follow-through and attention to detail.
  • A willingness to take ownership of project tasks and see them through to completion.
  • The ability to anticipate project needs rather than waiting for direction at every step.
  • Professional judgment regarding when to work independently and when to seek assistance.
  • Adaptability in fast-paced office and construction site environments.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for construction and project delivery.

The most successful candidate will be someone who can receive direction, understand the broader objective, and independently build on that guidance to identify what needs to happen next.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, Real Estate, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in construction, project management, real estate development, owner's representation, general contracting, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of construction processes and project administration.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to travel between project sites and office locations throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting commercial office, industrial, tenant improvement, or site development projects.
  • Familiarity with procurement tracking, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation workflows.
  • Experience working in field and office environments. Comfortable spending more days in the office than in the field.
  • Exposure to project scheduling and construction management software.
