We are looking for a dependable, mechanically curious Facilities Maintenance Technician who wants to build practical skills while supporting the daily care of our properties.
The Level 1 Technician is an entry-level position focused on basic maintenance, inspections, cleaning, preventive maintenance, grounds and seasonal support, and supervised repairs while developing knowledge of construction, equipment, and building systems.

Reports To: Facilities Field Manager
Compensation: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
Primary Focus: Operational Maintenance & Preventive Maintenance

Position Summary
As a Facilities Maintenance Technician - Level 1, I report directly to the Facilities Field Manager and support the routine care and maintenance of Elk Ave Hospitality properties.
I complete basic repairs, inspections, cleaning, preventive-maintenance tasks, material handling, grounds work, seasonal preparation, and supervised maintenance.
I work alongside Level 2 and Level 3 technicians to develop my skills and understanding of building systems.
I am expected to recognize conditions outside my training or authorized scope and escalate them immediately rather than attempting work I am not qualified to perform.
My goal is to become a reliable Facilities team member while building the skills required for greater technical responsibility.
Basic Maintenance & Repairs
- I complete assigned work orders for basic repairs and general building upkeep.
- I perform approved adjustments, assembly, touch-up work, hardware replacement, filter changes, and light carpentry.
- I complete work within my training and authorized scope.
- I keep work areas organized and clean.
- I communicate incomplete work or additional repair needs to the Facilities Field Manager.
- I ask for guidance when I am unsure how to safely complete a task.
Preventive Maintenance & Inspections
- I complete scheduled preventive-maintenance checklists using approved procedures.
- I inspect restaurant, housing, and building areas for visible problems.
- I look for leaks, damage, trip hazards, unusual noises or odors, temperature concerns, blocked drains, failed hardware, and other deficiencies.
- I document findings accurately.
- I communicate conditions requiring additional technical attention.
- I help prevent larger problems by identifying issues early.
Technician & Contractor Support
- I assist Level 2 and Level 3 technicians with assigned maintenance and repair work.
- I help with setup, cleanup, material handling, access, and jobsite organization.
- I assist outside contractors when directed.
- I help locate equipment, work areas, and relevant building components.
- I observe and learn from more experienced technicians while respecting trade and safety boundaries.
- I support safe and efficient completion of maintenance work.
Property & Seasonal Support
- I support snow and ice response, grounds work, trash and debris removal, and seasonal property preparation.
- I assist with grease-trap service coordination and related property access when assigned.
- I help prepare buildings and outdoor areas for changing seasonal conditions.
- I support housing and property turnover tasks as needed.
- I maintain safe and orderly work areas while completing property-support tasks.
Work Orders & Documentation
- I use the approved work-order system to document assigned work.
- I record labor, materials, photographs, completion notes, and unresolved conditions.
- I clearly communicate when additional work or technical support is required.
- I help maintain reliable maintenance records by documenting work accurately.
- I use company phones, tablets, and communication tools appropriately.
Safety & Trade Boundaries
- I perform work only within my training, demonstrated competency, and company authorization.
- I immediately escalate life-safety hazards, active leaks, electrical concerns, significant equipment failures, and other urgent conditions.
- I recognize when work requires a Level 2 or Level 3 technician or licensed contractor.
- I do not attempt regulated or specialty work outside my authorized scope.
- I follow required PPE, ladder, tool, access, and workplace-safety practices.
- I protect guests, employees, residents, and company property while work is underway.
Learning & Development
- I actively participate in job-related training.
- I ask questions and seek feedback from more experienced technicians.
- I work to improve my understanding of tools, equipment, preventive maintenance, and common building systems.
- I apply training consistently in the field.
- I build competency over time so I can safely take on greater responsibility.
- I support a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continued learning.
Qualifications
- No formal trade qualification required
- Construction, maintenance, landscaping, hospitality, labor, or similar hands-on experience helpful
- Basic ability to safely use common hand tools
- Ability to follow written checklists and instructions
- Reliable attendance and professional conduct
- Willingness to learn and accept coaching
- Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for work orders, photographs, messaging, and basic documentation
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record where company driving is assigned
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Basic maintenance or repair experience
- Carpentry or construction experience
- Landscaping or grounds experience
- Hospitality or property-maintenance experience
- Familiarity with common hand and power tools
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Experience working across multiple locations or properties
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work across restaurants, employee housing, commercial buildings, mechanical spaces, rooftops, crawlspaces, and outdoor mountain environments
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Climb ladders and safely use hand and power tools
- Work on your feet for extended periods
- Travel between company properties
- Some early-morning, evening, weekend, holiday, and emergency-response work may be required
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation: $22.00-$26.00 per hour.
Final compensation reflects experience, demonstrated capability, applicable certifications, and internal equity.

Regulated plumbing, electrical, HVAC/refrigeration, fire and life-safety, permitted, and specialty work is assigned to appropriately qualified and licensed contractors.
