Job Description
Tremendous is the global platform built for businesses to send thousands of payouts to anyone, anywhere, for free. We're trusted by 20,000 organizations like Atlassian, MIT, and United Way to deliver gift cards and money to millions of recipients worldwide.
Our customers (researchers, marketers, HR teams, nonprofits, and platform businesses) rave about how fast and easy Tremendous is to use. Check out our ratings on G2.
Tremendous is profitable and growing without outside investors. We’re a fully remote, high-documentation, low-meeting culture, which means more time for what matters in both your professional and personal life. The team agrees– our employee NPS is in the high 80s.
About the role
We're looking for a Senior PM to cover two of our Platform teams. Infrastructure owns the systems underneath our application, like cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability. Core Engineering owns application-side platform work, like developer tooling and application security. Much of the work is security, and most of it happens behind the scenes.
Both teams are new and growing. Part of your job is finding the work they should take on next.
Today, the product management org is seven PMs, led by a co-founder who serves as Head of Product.
You will
Report to our Co-founder / Head of Product, Kapil Kale.
PM both teams end-to-end. You'll work with each team's engineering manager and our Director of Engineering for Platform. Expect most of your time to go to Core Engineering, where the application-side work lives.
Work closely with engineers. This is a technical product area. You'll talk through architecture, tradeoffs, and implementation details with both teams.
Manage both teams' roadmaps. You'll work with stakeholders to figure out what to build and when. When things are unclear, you'll resolve the ambiguity.
Frame up problems. You’ll be expected to explain what problems we are solving and why. This helps our engineers and designers understand how to solve those problems.
Conduct research and analysis. In order to frame those problems well, you’ll need to collect supporting evidence–from user interviews, market research, and competitive analysis.
Work with designers and engineers to devise solutions. PMs set requirements and then work with designers and engineers to select appropriate solutions.
Collaborate without meetings. Tremendous has an async, non-meeting culture. This can be tricky if you're used to doing PM work in meetings.
Persuade with a light touch. Not everyone will agree on priorities. It's the PM's job to drive decisions while keeping people in the process.
Report back on what’s working. Once we ship, you’ll be responsible for helping the team understand the impact of their work.
Projects you might work on:
Account security. Add passkeys and self-serve SSO, encourage or require two-factor auth, and add extra verification for risky actions like password changes or unusually large orders.
API security. Give API keys spend caps and fine-grained permissions, flag unusual activity like requests from a new IP address, and support automatic key rotation.
Product fixes for security findings. When a researcher reports an issue through our bug bounty program, design the product change that fixes it. For example, we reworked account invitations so invited users have to explicitly accept.
Data and compliance. Decide what data we keep, for how long, and what we delete. Lead compliance work for customers in regulated industries like healthcare.
Business alerting. Decide which business metrics need alerts, like a sudden drop in order volume, and where to set the thresholds.
You have
6+ years building and shipping software as a designer, engineer, or product manager at tech companies.
2+ years as a PM at a growth-stage startup.
A technical degree, like computer science or engineering. Time as a software engineer is a plus.
Strong technical fluency. You hold your own in technical discussions with engineers.
A real interest in security, infrastructure, and developer tooling.
Strong product intuition. You can look at a problem and see the right solution.
The ability to take a long-term strategy and a big feature backlog and translate that into roadmaps.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. We’re a documentation-first culture, and this role requires communicating effectively with senior stakeholders.
Comfortable making decisions without perfect information and moving work forward without being told to.
Genuine empathy for users and teammates. You want to understand their problems.
What's cool about the role
Competitive pay and equity. Base salary for this role: $250,000 to $325,000.
Real benefits. 100% covered health (US), unlimited PTO, 12-16 weeks paid parental leave.
Fully remote. Work from anywhere in the Americas.
Great culture. Read more about how we work in our public handbook.
