Job Description

Huntey’s Clubhouse is seeking a dedicated and reliable Meal Service Team Member to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals and snacks for all children in the center while maintaining compliance with CACFP guidelines and Michigan childcare regulations. The Meal Service Team Member helps maintain a safe, sanitary, and efficient kitchen environment that supports the health and well-being of our children.

Key Responsibilities

Meal Preparation & Service

  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, AM snack, and PM snack daily for all classrooms.
  • Follow all CACFP rules, regulations, and portion guidelines when planning and preparing meals.
  • Ensure all meals meet nutritional requirements and follow center-approved menus.
  • Accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions, and special dietary needs based on documentation.

Kitchen Management

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen that meets all licensing and health department standards.
  • Properly store food items, maintain accurate labeling, and monitor expiration dates.
  • Follow all food safety procedures, including safe food handling, temperature control, and sanitation protocols.
  • Complete daily temperature logs, production records, and other required documentation.

Ordering & Inventory

  • Manage kitchen inventory, including weekly food and supply counts.
  • Complete and submit food and supply orders in a timely manner.
  • Work within an approved budget and help prevent unnecessary food waste.

Compliance & Professional Standards

  • Maintain familiarity with Michigan childcare licensing rules related to food service.
  • Follow all health department, CACFP, and Huntey’s Clubhouse policies and procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with the Center Director regarding menus, supplies, issues, or concerns.
  • Help create a positive, welcoming environment that supports the health and well-being of the children in our care.

Qualifications

  • Experience in childcare, school, or institutional food service settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of CACFP meal patterns and documentation requirements required or willingness to learn.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English with children, families, coworkers, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English sufficiently to complete required documentation, understand policies and procedures, and ensure the health and safety of children.

Schedule & Employment

  • Full-Time Position
  • Monday–Friday schedule during center operating hours
  • Reports to: Center Director
