Job Description

We're hiring a VP of Marketing for Pearl , which finds exceptional talent from around the world, trains them to be AI-native, and places them into operational roles at startups as managed contractors: from client facing roles to software engineers to executive assistants.

We're 3x founders who've bootstrapped our company to a couple million in ARR and are adding six to seven figures in net new annualized revenue each month. Our clients span venture-backed tech and healthcare, including fast-growing startups and US-based businesses that have raised over $3B in funding from Sequoia, a16z, Founders Fund, Y Combinator, and other top VC firms.

Today we're roughly 60 people managing a few hundred talents, growing fast and into new verticals. We started Pearl because we believe that even though opportunity isn't created equal in the world, ambitious talent is. Our goal is to scale Pearl to $100M in ARR bootstrapped by placing 2777 operators into top startups in the next 3 years.

Purpose of Your Role

You'll build Pearl into a brand that founders & leaders want to work with, exceptional talent want to join, and people genuinely want to be part of.

We believe some of the world's most exceptional talent is overlooked simply because of where they were born. Your job is to change that perception through compelling stories that showcase the people behind Pearl and the impact they have on the companies they support.

Imagine telling the story of a startup founder who just launched a product generating millions in revenue, then revealing the exceptional operators in the Philippines who helped make it happen. Or following a talented professional whose career at Pearl has allowed them to buy their parents a home or put their siblings through school.

You'll also build the brands of Pearl's founder communities, including NY Deep Tech , Operating Room , and Health Command . Our events and communities are a primary way we build relationships and acquire clients. We want founders and operators to see what's happening and think, "I want to be part of that."

This is a hands-on creative leadership role. You'll personally develop concepts, interview founders and talent, build storyboards, and write scripts while assembling and leading a team of specialists who bring those ideas to life as the main owner of marketing across Pearl/

You'll work directly with Pearl's founders to build a recognizable brand that attracts exceptional talent, strengthens our communities, and generates meaningful business opportunities.

What You'll Own

1. Brand Strategy, Storytelling, and Creative Direction

  • Own Pearl's positioning, creative direction and storytelling across the website, LinkedIn, Instagram and other channels.
  • Personally find the stories behind Pearl's talent, clients and founders, then concept, interview, storyboard and script them into videos, articles and social content written in the subject's own voice.
  • Make content that changes how people see global talent and that founders, clients, talent and community members want to share with their own networks.
  • Manage a ghostwriter for Isaac's and Monty's LinkedIn and be the final check that nothing cringe goes out.

2. Events, Communities, and Audience Growth

  • Own marketing for NY Deep Tech, Operating Room and Health Command, keeping each a distinct brand that still brings founders to Pearl.
  • Make our events and retreats experiences people want to attend and talk about, designed so the people in the room capture and post the content themselves.
  • Turn the raw footage from each event into videos, interviews, founder stories and social content that reach far beyond the room.
  • Connect community growth and event participation to qualified relationships, referrals, sponsorships and new clients.

3. Marketing Leadership and Creative Execution

  • Build and lead the team and freelance network that executes the strategy: video editors and producers from Pearl's talent network in the Philippines, plus a US event videographer, ghostwriter, SEO and GEO, ads and design from your own network.
  • Keep creative direction, storyboarding and scriptwriting yourself; delegate production and specialist execution.
  • Set the creative briefs, production workflow and quality bar so content ships without the founders driving each piece.
  • Manage spend across internal resources and external partners against brand and commercial goals.

4. Marketing Performance and Revenue Impact

  • Set and report KPIs in three areas: reach and virality, engagement and brand loyalty, prospecting and conversion.
  • Measure which stories earn organic distribution and which community members are high-quality, engaged prospects.
  • Partner with Sales to tie content, community and events to qualified prospects and new clients. Today clients come from events first, SEO and GEO second, LinkedIn third.
  • Oversee paid ads, SEO and GEO with specialists, and keep testing formats and distribution using the data.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, Pearl has a recognizable brand that founders, operators, and exceptional global talent want to be associated with.

You've built a repeatable storytelling engine that consistently produces compelling content about our talent, clients, founders, and communities. Our stories are reaching new audiences, generating meaningful engagement, and changing how people perceive global talent.

Our events and communities have become an extension of our marketing strategy, creating content people want to share and attracting the founders, executives, and operators we want to build relationships with.

You've assembled a high-performing network of creative and marketing specialists who can consistently turn your ideas into exceptional work without the founders managing the details.

Most importantly, marketing is contributing to Pearl's growth. We can see how our brand, content, events, and communities are generating qualified relationships, creating new business opportunities, and helping us attract exceptional talent.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • You're an exceptional storyteller and brand builder. You know how to find the human story behind a company or person and turn it into something people want to watch, read, and share. You can show us brands you've helped build and content you've created that generated meaningful engagement.
  • You've built brands people want to be part of. You understand what makes a brand distinctive, memorable, and culturally relevant. You know how to attract the right audience and build genuine loyalty rather than simply accumulating followers.
  • You're a hands-on creative leader. You can take a high-level idea from a founder and turn it into a compelling concept, storyboard, and script. You enjoy interviewing people, uncovering stories, and working with production teams to bring your vision to life.
  • You understand how content spreads. You've developed strategies that generate meaningful organic reach and engagement. You know how to amplify content through founders, creators, employees, customers, and communities.
  • You understand community-driven growth. You recognize that events and communities create relationships, build trust, and generate commercial opportunities. You can turn an offline experience into an online conversation that continues long after the event ends.
  • You understand the relationship between brand and revenue. You can explain how storytelling, community engagement, and audience growth contribute to qualified prospects and client acquisition. You understand the differences between B2B and B2C marketing.
  • You know how to build and manage an exceptional creative team. You have an established network of freelancers, creators, and agencies. You can evaluate excellent work across copywriting, video production, design, paid advertising, and search without personally being an expert in every discipline.
  • You're comfortable working directly with founders. You can take an ambitious vision, challenge assumptions, develop a creative strategy, and execute without waiting for detailed instructions.
  • You believe in Pearl's mission. You're excited about changing how the world views exceptional professionals in the Philippines, Latin America, and other global markets while helping ambitious companies grow.
  • You bring relevant brand-building experience. You may have led marketing at a high-growth startup, built a recognizable consumer or B2B brand, or scaled a community-driven business. Experience with marketplaces, recruiting, staffing, or HR technology is a plus, but not required.
  • You have high standards and low ego. You care deeply about quality but aren't afraid to jump into the details. You know when to do the work yourself and when to bring in someone who can do it better.

Benefits

  • Build and Grow Quickly - We're scaling fast, and we trust that you'll know best on the ground what needs to be done. You'll have the opportunity to step into leadership early and own decisions that shape how our company grows.
  • Fully Remote. Forever. - We've built Pearl with a multicultural DNA and teammates across 23 countries. We trust that the best work isn't done behind a cubicle.
  • Unlimited PTO - We trust that you'll get your work done, and we want to create space for you to take time away with the people you care about.
  • Global Retreats - We create space for our teammates to get to know each other as people, rather than just to-do lists. We've shared meals, laughs, and sunrises across the world in places like Cancun, El Nido, Boracay, and Siargao.
  • Ambitious and Kind Team - We build with the most competent people we know, and we maintain a low-ego, no-assholes policy. We're looking for people who are sharp, kind, and open to being vulnerable when it matters.
