Job Description
The Defect Manager is responsible for the operational governance and steering of the complete defect lifecycle across releases, upgrades, rollouts and support activities.The role acts as the central coordination point between markets, testers, business representatives, AMS, developers, architects and rollout teams to ensure defects are analyzed, prioritized, resolved, retested and closed in a controlled and transparent manner.The focus of the role is operational execution, transparency and delivery, rather than long-term product strategy.
You’ll be focused on:
• Owing and governing the end-to-end defect process.
• Reviewing newly created defects for completeness and quality.
• Validating defect categorization and prioritization.
• Identifying and closing duplicate defects.
• Assigning defects to the responsible delivery teams.
• Tracking defect progress until closure.
• Ensuring defect workflow compliance in Jira, SolMan or successor tools.
• Conducting regular defect review and triage sessions.
• Monitoring due dates and aging of defects.
• Escalating overdue or business-critical defects.
• Coordinating resolution activities between markets, business testers, product team, AMS & Rollout teams
• Supporting prioritization discussions with business and delivery stakeholders.
• Creating and maintain defect dashboards.
• Reporting defect status, trends and risks to stakeholders.
• Providing management reporting for releases and rollouts.
• Ensuring that system status reflects the actual situation.
• Supporting onboarding of testers and project members.
In order to succeed, you’ll need:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable work experience.
• Strong knowledge of defect management processes
• Experience with SAP projects and rollout delivery
• Understanding of test management methodologies
• Understanding of business processes and integration scenarios
• Experience with tools such as: Jira, XRAY, SAP Solution Manager, Confluence, Excel / Power BI (Tosca)
• Ability to adapt and solve problems under time constraints.
• Fluent Business English, both written and spoken.
Nice to have:
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and PI Planning processes.
• Experience in risk management and quality assurance during testing cycles.
• Knowledge of integration testing and performance validation for SAP environments.
