Job Description

Meet Smarty.

You may not have heard of us, but you've probably benefited from our work. Smarty is a leader in location data intelligence, helping businesses around the world verify, standardize, and enrich their address and location data at scale. When a package reaches the right door, an order ships without a hitch, or a journey reaches the right destination, there's a good chance we helped.

We've built all of this the hard way: self-funded, profitable, and on our own terms. That independence lets us make long-term decisions, invest in our people, and hold a high bar for our work. We’ve been recognized as a Top Workplace four years running, thanks to a culture that values our people just as much as our products.

As VP of Sales, you'll lead Smarty's sales organization and own the strategy, team, and results behind our new business growth. You'll join a company that's proven, profitable, and very good at what it does. We're looking for a leader who will raise the bar even higher. We expect you to deliver predictable, scalable revenue growth: setting a clear strategy and ambitious targets, building a pipeline and forecast leadership can rely on, and holding the team accountable for results. You'll be expected to hire and develop great salespeople, build a culture of ownership and high performance, and partner closely with Customer Success, Marketing, and Product so every customer gets real value from Smarty. This role is for a proven sales leader and builder who wants to own the strategy and build the structure that delivers consistent results.

This is a full-time, onsite role in our Orem, Utah office.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and own the strategic sales plan, including design, segmentation, and quota setting, in partnership with the CEO and company leadership
  • Build, lead, and scale a high-performing sales team, including org design and headcount planning, hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development
  • Own the sales pipeline and forecasting process, providing accurate and timely revenue projections to leadership
  • Own the sales department budget, including tooling, travel, and resource allocation
  • Own the sales methodology, process, and tech stack, including CRM administration and sales enablement tools, and audit processes as needed to ensure proper execution
  • Serve as an executive point of contact for strategic and high-value accounts, and engage directly on key deals as needed
  • Hold weekly one-on-ones and pipeline reviews with each sales team member to drive deal progression and remove blockers
  • Partner with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success to align sales strategy with product positioning and pricing decisions
  • Monitor market trends and competitive activity, and adjust sales strategy and messaging accordingly
  • Develop and refine sales playbooks and training programs to build breadth and depth across the team
  • Own sales compensation plan design and administration in partnership with HR and Finance
  • Lead the annual performance review process and provide ongoing coaching to improve individual and team performance
  • Present regular business reviews and revenue updates to company leadership

What You Bring

  • 7-10+ years of experience in B2B SaaS sales, including 3-5+ years in a senior sales leadership role such as VP of Sales, Head of Sales, or Sales Director
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling sales teams and organizational structure
  • Track record of designing and hitting revenue targets, ideally in a subscription or usage-based pricing model
  • Experience owning a sales budget and making resource tradeoffs against revenue goals
  • Strong command of pipeline management, forecasting methodology, and sales tech stack decisions; experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM preferred
  • Excellent communicator, able to translate sales data, market trends, and strategy into clear direction for the team and for leadership
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
