Job Description
- Assist the Chef de Partie and other kitchen team members with daily food preparation and cooking activities.
- Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, sauces, garnishes, and other mise en place as instructed.
- Ensure all food items are prepared according to the required recipes, standards, and portion sizes.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, taste, and consistency.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food supplies while following proper storage and FIFO procedures.
- Keep the assigned workstation, kitchen equipment, and preparation areas clean and organized at all times.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards and hotel procedures.
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, dating, and storage of food items to minimize waste and prevent contamination.
- Assist with buffet, restaurant, banquet, and other kitchen operations as required.
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and inform the Chef de Partie of shortages or items requiring replenishment.
- Minimize food wastage by using ingredients efficiently and following proper preparation techniques.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any malfunction or maintenance requirements to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with cleaning and closing duties at the end of each shift.
- Follow all health, safety, fire, and hygiene regulations within the kitchen.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, or Executive Chef.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred • Minimum two years of cooking/kitchen experience in an accredited restaurant or hotel • One to two years in a public contact position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel • Possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high-level attention to detail • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English • Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments • Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork
