Job Description

Position Purpose
Provides necessary support and assistance to the Head of Technical(HoT) in:
•    Overviewing the technical operations at fleet level
•    Evaluating Fleet Performance 
•    Undertaking Long term technical projects and retrofits

Position Summary

  • Report to the HoT. In HoT absence, reports to deputy
  • Provides HoT with the necessary information and support required to effectively manage the maintenance and performance of the operated fleet
  • Assists the HoT in performing routine clerical and administrative functions, as:Drafting correspondence/Scheduling appointments/Organizing and maintaining e-files
  • Assists the HoT with vessels’:Fleet performance & Vessels condition monitoring/Equipment maintenance verification and effectiveness/Engineering performance evaluation
  • Assists the HoT staying abreast with the evaluation of new technologies and retrofits onboard. Thus, she/he shall be familiar with the: Forthcoming rules and regulations/Market innovative solutions/Retrofit projects
  • Assists the HoT by supporting technical incidents investigation by:Drafting reports and follow up of corrective and preventive actions in fleet level /Preparing presentation material for meetings and conferences

Core Job Functions

  • Maintains knowledge of the characteristics and the status of each vessel in the designated Fleet including: Ships’ principal particulars /Flag, and classification/Maintenance Standards/Performance Standards
  • Corresponds with company’s vessels for various issues as technical/class manuals, technical issues, etc.
  • Retrieves equipment particulars and specification details
  • Coordinates all daily operations of the Head of Technical
  • Liaises with in-house management and Company staff and other 3rd parties, acting as personal assistant of HoT
  • Spearheads all proceedings of Technical Meetings
  • Prepares presentations, web cast conferences, logistics involved, official correspondence
  • Maintains records pertaining to the meetings including:Travel/Agendas/Notices and minutes’ preparation and distribution
  • Maintains important records as required for each vessel or project for analytical or other purposes
  • Records to be filed or retrieved are of a great variety and shall include among others:
  • Vessel particulars/New building records/Major repairs and dry docks/Ship auditing results/In-Out communication/Classification related projects
  • Assist the HoT to ensure that the managed fleet runs efficiently and according to:Class and statutory requirements/Company's guidelines
  • In the discretion of the HoT, the Project Engineering will attend vessels in order to:
  • Compile the dry dock specification
  • Obtain yards’ quotation
  • Prepare the relevant documentation for management approval
  • Assigned member of the Regulatory Awareness Team, responsibility for identifying, evaluating and assigning for action new and revised external legislation and/or industry requirements

Core Competencies

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and/or previous shore experience in a similar position
    •    Literate in computers use, IT experience: 
    -    Spreadsheets

    •    Good command of English Language, both oral and writing
