Job Description

REGIONAL TRANSLATOR with PROFICIENCY IN SPANISH, FRENCH, AND GERMAN. 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Regional Translator is responsible for providing accurate, professional, and timely translation and interpretation services to support effective communication between guests, team members, management, suppliers, recruitment partners, and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate should demonstrate strong proficiency in English and at least two additional languages, with preference given to candidates proficient in Spanish, French, and German, as well as other languages relevant to the resort's international guest markets.

The position will support the resort's guest experience, administration, and daily operational functions by facilitating clear, accurate, and culturally appropriate communication.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Translation & Interpretation

  • Provide oral interpretation between English-speaking team members, management, guests, and foreign-language speakers.
  • Translate written documents, correspondence, notices, policies, procedures, forms, menus, promotional materials, and other resort-related documents.
  • Provide consecutive interpretation during meetings, presentations, departmental briefings, and other official activities.
  • Ensure translations accurately convey the original meaning, tone, intent, and context.
  • Review translated materials for grammar, spelling, terminology, consistency, and cultural appropriateness.
  • Interpret conversations accurately while maintaining neutrality and professionalism.
  • Clarify language-related misunderstandings and facilitate effective communication between parties.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive, personal, financial, or guest-related information.

 Guest Relations & Resort Operations

  • Assist Front Office, Guest Relations, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Entertainment, Watersports, Sports & Wellness, and other departments with foreign-language communication.
  • Assist team members in communicating effectively with international guests when language barriers arise.
  • Support the resolution of guest concerns by facilitating clear and accurate communication between guests and management.
  • Translate or interpret information regarding resort services, facilities, activities, policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with special events, group arrivals, conferences, weddings, meetings, and other activities involving international guests.
  • Provide language assistance when required to enhance the overall guest experience.
  • Assist departments in preparing guest-facing materials in appropriate languages.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain organized records of translated documents and language-related resources.
  • Develop and maintain a glossary of commonly used resort, hospitality, technical, and departmental terminology.
  • Assist with proofreading and quality control of multilingual materials.
  • Ensure translation assignments are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all documents and information handled.
  • Maintain records of translation and interpretation assignments when required.
  • Assist with administrative duties related to translation and interpretation.
  • Perform other administrative and HR-related functions as assigned.

 LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate should demonstrate advanced or professional proficiency in English and at least two additional languages.

Preferred Languages: Spanish, French, German

Candidates who are proficient in three or more languages will be considered an asset.

Language proficiency may be assessed through written and/or oral language testing during the recruitment and selection process.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma, certificate, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Translation, Languages, Linguistics, Hospitality, International Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English and at least two additional languages.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, syntax, and language structure.
  • Strong listening and comprehension skills.
  • Knowledge of cultural practices and communication styles associated with the languages spoken.
  • Previous experience in translation, interpretation, hospitality, tourism, customer service, administration, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other standard computer applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
  • The ideal candidate should have experience in one or more of the following areas:

Previous experience working in a hotel, resort, international organization, airline, travel company, or other customer-facing environment will be considered an asset.

  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy in all translation and interpretation assignments.
  • Report any communication challenges or recurring language barriers to the appropriate manager.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

 WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The position operates primarily within a resort/hotel environment.
  • The employee may be required to work across different departments and areas of the property.
  • The position may require interaction with guests, employees, management, applicants, and external stakeholders throughout the workday.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required based on operational needs, special events, meetings, guest arrivals, training sessions, or other resort activities.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to attend meetings, training sessions, or events outside of their normal department.

The Regional Translator is expected to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all guest, employee, candidate, financial, operational, and company information encountered during the performance of their duties.

Information obtained through interpretation or translation must not be disclosed to unauthorized persons.

 JOB REQUIREMENT

The position requires an individual who is highly proficient in languages, culturally aware, professional, dependable, and capable of adapting communication to different audiences.

The successful candidate must be able to listen, interpret, translate, communicate, and document information accurately while maintaining the intended meaning and professional tone of the original communication.
