Job Description

Junior Finance Manager (m/f/x)

ABOUT US

COLORS is a unique aesthetic music platform showcasing exceptional talent from all around the globe, focused on promoting the most distinctive new artists and original sounds. In the context of an increasingly fragmented and saturated scene, we seek to provide clarity and calm, offering a minimalistic stage to shine a spotlight on the artists and give them the opportunity to present their music without distraction.

YOUR ROLE

COLORS has succeeded in building a platform that supports and celebrates creative talent around the world. We’re currently looking for a Junior Finance Manager to join our Finance team and support the company’s financial operations as we continue to grow. In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Finance and other departments to assist with day-to-day financial tasks, help maintain accurate financial records, and support the development of efficient financial processes across the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Operational Finance & Day-to-Day Support
    • Own incoming and outgoing invoices end-to-end: processing, coding, documentation
      and filing
    • Chase open receivables before anyone has to ask, and follow up directly with clients or
      account managers
    • Run approval and payment processes with internal stakeholders and make sure
      nothing gets stuck
    • Prepare the monthly close: collect, reconcile and organize the data so the close runs
      on time
  • Controlling & Budget Management
    • Prepare and track budgets, forecasts and actuals across departments
    • Produce regular financial reporting (e.g. monthly budget vs. actuals, cash flow reports,
      variance analyses)
    • Keep internal trackers up to date (e.g. cost control sheets, royalty flows, headcount
      budgets) without being reminded
    • Monitor key financial KPIs and flag deviations to budget owners early, together with a
suggestion on what to do about them
  • Communication & Documentation
    • Be the first point of contact for internal teams on budget, invoice and cost questions,
and give them answers rather than just forwarding them
    • Handle day-to-day coordination with external partners (e.g. accountants, tax advisors,
      royalty service providers)
    • Keep finance documents (invoices, contracts, tax records) organized, accessible and
      up to date
    • Document what you do: processes, decisions, where files live. If it isn’t written down, it
      didn’t happen.
  • Team & Process Support
    • Onboard and coordinate working students or freelancers involved in finance tasks
    • Spot inefficiencies in our finance processes (e.g. invoice approval flows, budget
      request procedures) and fix them

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Has an understanding of core finance processes (e.g. monthly close, budget tracking, controlling)
  • Has experience coordinating with external accounting firms and service providers (e.g. royalty platforms)
  • DATEV knowledge (particularly the ability to extract reports, navigate the interface, and communicate effectively with tax advisors)
  • Is proficient in Excel / Google Sheets skills for data handling, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Has a basic understanding of German accounting standards, ideally with exposure to HGB
  • Is structured and works in a proactive way, taking ownership and following through without needing close supervision
  • Has strong communication skills in English & German (with any other European languages being a plus), especially when aligning with internal departments and external partners

NICE TO HAVE (BUT NOT REQUIRED)

  • Experience in financial data preparation for management reporting or investor updates
  • Familiarity with project-based or creative industries (e.g. music, media, or entertainment)
  • Basic experience with forecasting or financial modeling
  • Comfort working in a small, scaling team — someone who’s hands-on, adaptable, and not afraid of a fast-paced environment

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A high degree of responsibility, professional autonomy, and creative freedom of expression
  • An inspirational and motivational working environment with opportunity to proactively shape a company and build a global brand
