Job Description
What you will be doing as a Head Chef:
- Lead the culinary vision of Mr Good Guy, bringing bold South-East Asian flavours to life and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for every guest
- Design and deliver seasonal menus that balance creativity, quality and commercial performance
- Oversee all daily kitchen operations including restaurant service, breakfast, events and hotel activations
- Drive consistency, food quality and presentation standards across the kitchen
- Manage food and labour costs, menu engineering, stock control and supplier relationships to delivery strong commercial outcomes
- Maintain strong food safety, hygiene and WHS standards
- Support conferences and events through tailored menus and smooth execution
- Stay ahead of culinary trends and continuously seek opportunities to innovate and evolve the food offering
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing kitchen team by fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Be the face of the kitchen – connect with guests and bring the Mr Good Guy vibe to life
- Build a strong, positive team culture where people love coming to work
- Mentor and grow your team into future hospitality/culinary stars
- Work closely with the Food & Beverage and hotel leadership teams to deliver memorable guest experiences and achieve business objectives
About you
You are a calm, confident and creative kitchen leader who knows how to bring a team with you. You care about quality, consistency and culture, and you understand that exceptional food starts with an engaged and high-performing team.
You will bring:
- Proven experience (minimum of 3 years) as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef, ideally within a quality restaurant, hotel or high-volume venue
- A passion for food, people, and creating memorable guest experiences
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach, mentor and develop a diverse kitchen team
- Experience managing kitchen operations, including rostering, food costing, ordering and supplier relationships
- Sound financial acumen, with experience managing labour costs, food costs and menu profitability
- The ability to remain calm, organised and solutions-focused in a fast-paced environment
- A collaborative leadership style and the ability to build strong relationships across departments
- A creative mindset with a genuine interest in food trends, innovation and continuous improvement
- A commitment to creating a positive team culture where people feel supported, challenged and empowered to grow
- Flexible and ready to embrace the rhythm of hospitality (including mornings, evenings and weekends)
