Senior Credit Analyst (Resident in Malta or Hold an EU Passport)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Credit Analyst to support credit card strategy for a growing European portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Credit Manager, the role will undertake portfolio analysis, monitor credit performance and support the development and implementation of credit risk strategies. This is a hands-on analytical role in a fast-moving credit environment, with exposure to senior stakeholders and bank committees.
Responsibilities:
- Support the development, implementation and monitoring of credit risk strategies across acquisition and customer management, including cut-offs, initial credit limits, affordability and credit line management.
- Undertake regular and ad hoc analysis—including vintage, cohort, delinquency, roll-rate, loss and profitability analysis—to track performance and inform strategy decisions.
- Develop and maintain MI covering risk appetite, portfolio performance, strategy outcomes, live tests and emerging trends.
- Provide clear credit risk updates and recommendations to stakeholders and bank committees.
- Work with Finance, Operations, Data/Decision Science and other teams to support growth, customer experience and effective credit solutions.
- Maintain credit risk documentation and support Collections, Recoveries, Fraud and regulatory change.
Skills / Experience:
Essential
- 3+ years’ experience in Credit Risk, Lending, Portfolio Management or Credit Analytics, ideally within Consumer Lending.
- Practical experience using SQL, SAS, Python or similar tools to extract, manipulate and analyse customer-level data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate credit performance into practical strategy recommendations.
- Strong communication skills, including explaining credit risk performance and strategy to senior stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach, with the ability to prioritise delivery and improve processes, reporting and decisioning.
- Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to balance growth, risk and customer outcomes.
Advantageous
- Experience with credit cards is strong preferred; experience in other consumer lending products will also be considered.
- Exposure to collections, recoveries, fraud, affordability or credit line management strategies.
- Experience using Tableau, Power BI or similar tools to present data and develop management information.
